Ingredients for air fryer tortilla pizza
The base of this recipe is only four ingredients:
- Large tortilla — I used a 10-inch whole wheat tortilla, but it depends on the size of your air fryer and what you have available
- Pizza sauce — use premade to make life easier
- Cooked chicken — I love to use leftover rotisserie chicken for this recipe
- Shredded mozzarella — or any cheese you have on hand
From there, it’s all about toppings! You can add and adjust these to suit your taste and dietary needs.
Topping ideas
Sliced vegetables: bell pepper, cherry tomatoes, artichoke, red onion, spinach, zucchini, sun dried tomatoes, olives, banana peppers, jalapeño peppers.
Fresh or dried herbs: basil, parsley, chives, oregano.
Extras (to add after cooking): balsamic glaze, ranch, pesto, hot honey, grated parmesan, fresh arugula, lemon juice.
In the photos, I used olives, green bell pepper, red onion, and pesto.
Step-by-step instructions
Add tortilla to your air fryer basket. If needed, gently press down with your hands so the tortilla takes the shape of the basket.
Spread your pizza sauce over the tortilla, getting close to the edges. Add chicken, cheese, and additional toppings (in that order) in even layers on top.
Cook in the air fryer for 4-7 minutes at 400 F. I don’t recommend pre-heating your air fryer for this recipe, because it’s easier to assemble your pizza in a cool air fryer basket. Cook until cheese is bubbling and tortilla is crisp.
Remove the air fryer basket from the air fryer. Let your pizza rest in the basket for 5 minutes before carefully transferring to a cutting board. Slice, add any additional toppings/drizzles, and serve!
Variations
Pesto and feta: Swap tomato sauce for pesto, and add sundried tomatoes and feta on top.
Spicy pepperoni: Add pickled jalapeño peppers and turkey pepperoni.
Veggie-loaded: Use chopped broccoli, onion, and zucchini as toppings.
Arugula balsamic: After cooking, top your pizza with arugula and a drizzle of balsamic glaze.
Canadian: Top with chopped ham or bacon, mushrooms, and pepperoni.
Important tips
Don’t overload your toppings. The tortilla is a delicate base for your pizza, so be careful not to weight it down with too many toppings. You’ll want to be especially careful with vegetables, since they can release water and make your crust soggy.
Let your pizza rest before removing from the air fryer. The air fryer will be hot, and the pizza will be a little flimsy right after cooking. After resting, it should lift and transfer easily by gently pulling on one edge.

Frequently asked questions
This depends on the size of your air fryer! I use a 10-inch tortilla for my Ninja Air Fryer, and it fits well with just a little excess “crust”.
Yep! I prefer when my tortilla is about 1-2 inches too big for the air fryer, because it leaves more room for toppings and is easier to remove.
I prefer whole wheat tortillas for the extra fiber and protein that comes from the whole grains. I would recommend using any high fiber tortilla you like!
Allow your air fryer tortilla pizza to completely cool before transferring to a food container and storing in the fridge. It will stay good for up to two days. Re-heat in the air fryer or a toaster oven for 1-3 minutes, or until crisp and warm.
