Expert tips

  • Dry your chips with a paper towel before tossing in oil to prevent sogginess
  • Don’t overcrowd the air fryer if you want crisp chips
  • If you choose to cut your own carrots, slice them evenly
  • Shake the chips well in oil and seasoning before transferring to air fryer
  • Every air fryer runs differently – watch your chips very carefully to avoid burning!

How to store leftovers

Store: Line a food container (that has a lid) with paper towel. Allow carrot chips to cool completely before transferring to the container and closing the lid. They will stay good in the fridge for up to three days.

Reheat: When you want to eat your leftovers, reheat in the air fryer for 2-3 minutes at 400 F. Watch them closely to prevent burning!

Frequently asked questions

Why are my chips soggy?

Your air fryer carrot chips will be soggy if you overcrowd the air fryer or use chips that haven’t been properly dried with a paper towel beforehand. To prevent this, ensure your carrot chips are assembled in an even layer at the bottom of the air fryer with minimal overlap. Also, make sure to dry your carrot chips thoroughly before coating with oil.

Can I use cooking spray instead of oil?

Yes, you can! Just ensure you’re coating all chips evenly before adding seasoning.

Can I slice my own carrot chips instead of buying premade?

Yes, but it will take you more time. Be sure to slice your carrot chips evenly to prevent burning and ensure even cooking.

Is air frying healthier than deep frying?

Air frying is great for your health because it allows you to get a crispy texture on foods without using excessive amounts of oil. It’s a wonderful prep method for people working on weight loss, heart health, diabetes, and more.
